Do you have to obscure the identity of minors in Belgium?
No, I just do it anyway. I feel uncomfortable posting photographs of anyone without their permission, and where their face is in the foreground and clearly recognisable. But especially in the case of children.
Oh ok. Very good.
Re. the sculpture, it looks like the embodiment of the phrase ‘face like a wet weekend’ – which is probably pretty apt for the Belgian coast.
Yes! It totally does! It made me think of the “face of crumpled linen” in M.R. James’ short story, “O Whistle and I’ll Come to You, my Lad”. It’s really quite a disturbing thing to put in the middle of a children’s play area on the seafront.
I wish I could ask it what it feels like to be upstaged by the pedestal you’ve been put on.
